MACS Nihongo — Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the app "MACS Nihongo" (the "App") handles user information.

1. Information we collect

The App does not collect personally identifying information such as your name, email address or phone number. No account is required.

Word lists and learning progress: stored only on your device. They are never sent to or stored on our servers.
Photos (only when you use the AI import feature): the image you take or select is sent through our relay server to an external AI service (Google Gemini API) solely for text extraction. Images are used only for processing and are not stored by us.
Random device identifier: a random identifier is sent to prevent abuse and enforce usage limits. It cannot identify you personally and is used only for short-lived usage counters that are deleted automatically.

The App uses the following services for processing. Please also review their policies.

Google (Gemini API / Cloud Text-to-Speech): image analysis and speech synthesis.
Cloudflare: infrastructure for our relay server and hosting.

We do not sell or provide user information to any other third party. The App contains no ads and no tracking.

Word lists / progress: kept on your device until you delete them (we keep nothing).
Uploaded images: not stored (discarded after processing).
Usage counters: deleted automatically within tens of hours.

The App is intended for learning and may be used by minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

All data on your device can be deleted at any time from within the App or by uninstalling it.

We may update this policy as needed. Material changes will be announced on this page.
